My God, perfect forgiveness in me so that I can help others with it. If forgiveness heals the separation from You and releases us from pain, Lord, how terribly we need to practice it! If giving and receiving forgiveness are as important to us as our daily bread, as Your prayer suggests, pull unforgiveness out of my heart by its roots – pride, anger, fear, guilt, ignorance, whatever they are; and do not spare me pain or humiliation as You do that, but simply give me the strength to bear them, for out those roots must come. Make me a teacher of Your love, a messenger of Your peace, an awakener of faith and hope in You, whatever demolition or dissolution may be necessary of all that’s contrary to that in me. In Jesus’ name I ask this, Lord. Amen.
